Tyne for Tea!

Yesterday was a very exciting day for Ringtons – we  signed a new contract with our neighbours in the North, Port of Tyne.

For the first time in over 50 years, the port will handle the shipment of Ringtons tea. 4 million kilos of tea to be precise. That’s enough to brew 1.48 billion cuppas each year!

Port of Tyne will handle up to 250 containers of tea per year, storing the many different leaf varieties enjoyed by UK households in its warehouse, and distributing tea on demand to our factory in Newcastle. By doing this we’ll eliminate 100,000 unnecessary road miles per year and improve operational efficiency.

Ringtons traditionally shipped tea through the Port of Tyne, where it was brought ashore close to our original factory in Newcastle and we’re delighted to be able to do this once more!
