Very warm this morning and all the stewards are in white. Passed two Italian submarines about 9:30am. The name of the Red Sea is derived from the Greek translation of the Hebrew title – “The Sea of Edom”. Edom means either Arabia or Red. The length of the Red Sea from Suez to Perim is 1,200 miles and its greatest width is 190 miles. Have just seen a glorious sunset. At 5:15 the sun was in full sight and four minutes later had disappeared below the horizon, leaving the sky full of beautifully coloured clouds.
