We arrived at Colombo and were met by our new courier Mr. Bell and by Mr. H. M. Siewert of Messrs. Bosanquet and Skrine Ltd, Colombo, and by Mr Broom of Brooke Bonds. I must say that Mr. Peel (Managing Director) of Brooke Bonds have done their best to make our trip a success. Their managers have been advised of our visit and are all anxious to entertain us and show us all they can. Brooke Bonds is a larger firm than I imagined and must have a tremendous output from what I have seen and heard out here. After getting off the boat we had luncheon at our Hotel, the Galle Face. Mac and Siewert had a swim in a fine bath in the hotel. We then went to the Mt. Lavinia Hotel for dinner, had a game of snooker after which the black marker challenged Mac to a game of billiards. As I expected, the black boy was too good for Mac. Colombo is the cleanest place we have seen so far.
